HISTORY
| 1938 | Foundation of ”Fabrik Filtermaterialien Hans Schmid” by Mr. Hans Schmid. The factory started producing filter media (sheets), using the facilities of a former textile plant at the Sitter river in St.Gallen. |
| 1940 | Change of name to ”FILTROX Werk Hans Schmid AG”. |
| 1946 | Foundation of ”FILTROX Maschinenbau AG” for the manufacturing of filter equipment. |
| 1949 | Presentation of the first FILTRODUR® precoat filter sheet for filtration of beer with diatomaceous earth. |
| 1957 | Introduction of the horizontal pressure leaf filter ”FILTER-O-MAT 100” for precoat filtration of beverages. |
| 1960 | Inauguration of a new manufacturing building for production of equipment. |
| 1968 | Introduction of the ”FILTROstar” candle filter, the first candle filter worldwide for the filtrati on of beverages. |
| 1972 | Inauguration of new manufacturing plant for filter media. |
| 1976 | Introduction of a new generation of filter sheets, the very successful ”FibraFix® AF” line. |
| 1982 | New warehouse and logistics building for filter media is openend across the Sitter river. |
| 1988 | Acquisition of Carlson Filtration Ltd., a former competitor based in Barnoldswick, UK. |
| Carlson Ltd was established in 1923 by John C Carlson and has been based at Butts Mill in Barnoldswick, England since 1950. Having been owned by various corporations over its long history, since 1988 Carlson Ltd has been part of the Swiss based Group FILTROX AG. Through out its lifetime the company developed a strong position in the market place for depth filtration media, modules and supporting equipment. Its products were used in multiple industries, including spirits, wine, brewing, fruit juices and other food related applications. Carlson Ltd developed, manufactured, marketed and distributed a broad range of products to suit all applications. From the Barnoldswick factory the company distributed products through the UK and to over 130 countries worldwide. | |
| 1998 | Joint-venture with Skolnik Family to form Hobra-Skolnik s.r.o. in Broumov, CZ. |
| 2000 | Foundation of FILTROX France s.a.r.l in Beaune. |
| 2001 | Acquistion of Papelera del Besos Placas Filtrantes s.l., a former competitor based in Barcelona, Spain. |
| 2002 | Market launch of the PURAFIX® filter sheet line, specifically designed for the pharmaceutical market. |
| 2003 | Acquisition of majority stake in Filtercorp LLC, transformation into Clarification Technology Inc. to operate as sales office in the North American market. |
| 2007 | Foundation of FILTROX Microfiltraciones SA de CV, a sales office in Mexico. |
| 2008 | Foundation of FILTROX (Shanghai) Filtration Systems. Co. Ltd., the group’s sales and distribution center in China. |
| 2011 | Innovation Award at SIMEI Milan for FIBRAFIX® TX-R, a filter to remove TCA (cork taste) from wine. |
| 2012 | Innovation Award at ACHEMA Frankfurt for FILTRODISC™ BIO SD, a new system for the filtration of cell cultures in the biotech industry. |
| 2012 | Sale of FILTROX Engineering AG to Bucher Unipektin AG – in order to focus again only on filter media and media-carrying apparatus. |
| 2013 | Acquisition of majority stake in Columbia Filter Co. de Mexico SA de CV in Tlanepantla, Mexico. Innovation Award at TechnoPharm Nuremberg for self-centering filter sheets in NOVOX® OD filter press. |
| 2014 | Introduction of the new SYNTHAFIX™ P line of filter sheets, specifically designed for the filtration of pharmaceuticals derived from human blood plasma. |
| 2016 | Foundation of FILTROX Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd in Singapore |
| 2018 | Introduction of the DISCSTAR™ H, the horizontal lenticular module housing. |
| 2024 | Relocation of the production site in St.Gallen, Switzerland to Barnoldswick, UK |
