Update – FILTROX statement regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

First of we hope that you, your families and your businesses have not been affected too much by the Corona-Crisis. Statement: Thankfully, FILTROX is still 100% operational. All our manufacturing sites are running on a normal schedule and our regional distribution centers and sales offices around the world are open. As at most companies, our staffing levels are reduced due to safety and quarantine measures. However, this has not affected our operational stability due to flexible work schedules and home-office solutions. We have enough stock of necessary raw materials and components and have not experienced any major disruptions in our supply chain.

Safety remains our top priority. We have implemented the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the respective local authorities on all our sites. Thankfully, none of our employees or their families have been diagnosed with COVID-19. We continue to minimize direct social contacts at the workplace and travelling and site visits are still restricted. Nevertheless, our qualified sales and customer service staff is glad to support you via phone, e-mails or web-meetings with your filtration needs. We are also ready to provide online assistance for any pending filtration trials.

We are monitoring the situation continuously and will advise you immediately of any changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

FILTROX Situation regarding Coronavirus

Currently, we are still 100% operational. All our manufacturing sites are running. Therefore, we can currently ship all purchase orders within normal lead times.

However, we are experiencing some problems with outgoing freight such as limited container availability, reduced airfreight capacity and more time-consuming border-crossing procedures. We are also aware that the
situation could change quickly due to higher levels of infections and/or more severe restrictions on the free movement of people and goods.

We are monitoring the situation continuously and will advise immediately of any changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Alluvial Filtration

An Economical Solution for Midstream Clarification

Introduction
Continuous process optimization is a key factor in the biotech industry. With higher particle loads (>108 cells/ml), standard technologies for cell removal (midstream processing) – e.g. centrifugation, separation, membrane- and depth filtration – find their limits.

To increase efficiency and making the midstream process more economical alluvial filtration is the state-of-the-art solution. Alluvial filtration is a type of depth filtration and a well-established, econo-mical method in pharmaceutical industries (e.g. plasma fractionation). Instead of using an immobilized depth filter medium, filter aid (e.g. diatomaceous earth, perlite) is used to constantly build a filter cake during filtration. The filter cake with its resistance acts then as the actual filter medium. Alluvial filtration, therefore, leads to a higher filter capacity – especially with compressible particles, e.g. microbial or mammalian cells. This technology leads to a maximum product yield and highest economic efficiency and is linear scalable from lab to production scale.

CBD products: the filtration

Depth filtration solutions for CBD oils, hemp oils and extracts, cannabis oil

Producing pure and safe CBD products is the goal of every quality-conscious manufacturer of cannabis products. Raw hemp extracts contain high concentrations of cannabinoids, but will also contain contaminants and impurities like plant particles, chlorophyll and debris as well as unwanted oils and waxes. Why certain contaminants should be removed:

Chlorophyll:
• bitter taste and highly unstable
• will cause degradation of cannabinoids

 Waxes:
• very sticky components
• removal leads to smoother texture and consistency

Filtration and purification steps of CBD products and oils

In order to ensure product quality and safety, filtration is essential. To remove the waxes, fats and oil from the winterization a multi-step filtration is recommended. Depending on the batch size different approaches are possible. Find out more about the filtration steps. more…
