About CBD Oil clarification and purification Raw hemp extracts contain high concentrations of cannabinoids but will also contain contaminants and impurities like plant particles, chlorophyll and debris as well as unwanted oils and waxes. Discover our optimized 2-step filtration and purification solution to remove the unwanted contaminants and color.
Winemakers around the world have been using FIBRAFIX® TX-R filter sheets for more than a decade to remove cork taint and musty tones. At the same time, increasing the wine and beverage freshness, favoring the primary and secondary aromas and thus adding value to the treated products. These specifically designed depth filter sheets contain an inorganic compound, allowing to adsorb TCA and TBA molecules by a lock and key principle.
Aromas analysis before and after treatment The graph shows the aroma analysis of a wine before and after treatment with FIBRAFIX® TX-R. After filtration, the original TCA concentration (20 ng / L) is well below the flavor threshold of 5 ng / L and no more TCA could be detected. At the same time, none of the aroma compounds examined showed a significant difference.
Improving the taste of wine The treatment of wine with FIBRAFIX® TX-R allows to reduce TCA and TBA levels below the flavor threshold while fully preserving the aroma profile. The sheets are available in a wide range of formats which allows application in any commercially available depth filter system, for example in our filter systems. In addition, depth filter sheets are available as FILTRODISC™ lenticular modules. All the materials used for the FIBRAFIX® TX-R production are FDA approved and admitted by the OIV.
In addition, with our lab- scale TX-R test kit you can test and verify the effectiveness on your wine.
Effective and specific removal of TCA / TBA compared to other methods.
OIV admitted and FDA approved compounds.
Easy to use like conventional depth filtration.

Optimized solutions for Plasmid- DNA clarification and purification
PURADISC® BIO SD is the state-of-the-art technology for alluvial filtration for Plasmid-DNA clarification. It is based on depth filters that capture contaminants in their three-dimensional matrix. The used PURAFIX® depth filters are low in extractable ions and pyrogens. By adding filter aid, such as diatomaceous earth, the capacity per m2 filter area can be drastically increased.
Save one process step The main advantage of alluvial filtration for the clarification step of Plasmid-DNA is the elimination of the two-step approach. Due to the increased filtration capacity the traditional approaches such as centrifugation followed by depth filtration or a two-step depth filtration are not necessary anymore. The simultaneous reduction of impurities e.g. HCP is another advantage.

FILTROX has developed Carbon Pads and Carbon Envelopes with, and for foodservice operators, specifically for the filtration and treatment of frying oil.
No need for „polishing“ as the oil only needs one pass through the filter. The frying oil is cleaner after filtration and therefore lasts longer. You use less oil, offer consistent food quality, save labor costs and have an easier and safer operation.
Available in a variety of sizes and types: Carbon Pad, Pleated Carbon Pad, Carbon Envelope.

In the age of dry hopping, brewers are searching for more efficient ways to clarify their beer. One of the major challenges is high particulate loads or shorter storage times. This will eventually lead to early filter blockages, shorter filtration cycles and subsequently downtime.
In order to increase capacity and filter life, we have developed a new FIBRAFIX® filter sheet. The new FIBRAFIX® AF 11H filter sheet with unique partial perforation technology combines all advantages brewers are looking for when pre-filtering or polishing their hazy beers.
The ideal sheet for pre-filtration when hopping or for polishing naturally cloudy beers!
20% more surface compared to regular filter sheets.
15% more capacity than regular filter sheets.
DE free filter material.
Lowest driploss results in an economic filtration.

Single-use and traditional approach of clarification
The ongoing optimization of mammalian cell lines and fermentation processes leads to higher cell densities/titers and higher monoclonal antibody (mAb) yields. Due to this optimization also the biomass increases, including cell debris and other impurities, which challenges the clarification/harvest step.
The typical clarification process for mammalian cells and mAb involves a primary and a secondary clarification step. Due to potentially high shear forces and the necessity of this step to remove submicron particles, depth filtration is a mandatory step before transferring the liquid into the downstream.
The process combines low running costs with operating robustness.

An Economical Solution for Midstream Clarification
Introduction Continuous process optimization is a key factor in the biotech industry. With higher particle loads (>108 cells/ml), standard technologies for cell removal (midstream processing) – e.g. centrifugation, separation, membrane- and depth filtration – find their limits.
To increase efficiency and making the midstream process more economical alluvial filtration is the state-of-the-art solution. Alluvial filtration is a type of depth filtration and a well-established, econo-mical method in pharmaceutical industries (e.g. plasma fractionation). Instead of using an immobilized depth filter medium, filter aid (e.g. diatomaceous earth, perlite) is used to constantly build a filter cake during filtration. The filter cake with its resistance acts then as the actual filter medium. Alluvial filtration, therefore, leads to a higher filter capacity – especially with compressible particles, e.g. microbial or mammalian cells. This technology leads to a maximum product yield and highest economic efficiency and is linear scalable from lab to production scale.
Producing pure and safe CBD products is the goal of every quality-conscious manufacturer of cannabis products. Raw hemp extracts contain high concentrations of cannabinoids, but will also contain contaminants and impurities like plant particles, chlorophyll and debris as well as unwanted oils and waxes. Why certain contaminants should be removed:
Chlorophyll: • bitter taste and highly unstable • will cause degradation of cannabinoids
Waxes: • very sticky components • removal leads to smoother texture and consistency
Filtration and purification steps of CBD products and oils
In order to ensure product quality and safety, filtration is essential. To remove the waxes, fats and oil from the winterization a multi-step filtration is recommended. Depending on the batch size different approaches are possible. Find out more about the filtration steps. more…
